- The official chapter of the Qatari Muslim Brotherhood disbanded in 1999, but Qatar continued to provide financial, media and diplomatic support to the organization, including through the Qatari - owned Al Jazeera satellite network, which was accused of bias towards the Brotherhood. Qatar is also home to prominent leaders of the Brotherhood such as the group’s spiritual leader, Yusuf al-Qaradawi. Khaled Meshaal, the former leader of the Brotherhood offshoot Hamas, has long been based in Qatar. (Christa Case Bryant, 2014)

- Qatar has many years of support for the Brotherhood and its offshoots. During the year of the Brotherhood in power in Egypt, Qatar lent the government of President Mohammed Morsi approximately $ 7.5 billion. According to Reuters, Qatar also supported the Morsi regime with grants and " energy supplies. " Funds of up to $ 850 million during Morsi's presidency reportedly secretly transferred to the Brotherhood from Qatar’s former Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani. A document dated 28 March 2013 details the allocation of funds from Hamad bin Jassim to a " long list " of leaders of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood. Egyptian courts have also punished Morsi and his helpers with leaking state secrets against Qatar. (Adnan Abu Amer,2013)
- Qatar also supplied Hamas with political and economic support, the most notorious offshoot of the Brotherhood. In 2008, Doha reportedly committed $ 250 million to Hamas one year after the terrorist group took control of the Gaza Strip violently. Qatari Emir Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani was the first head of state to visit Gaza in 2012, promising $ 400 million to hamas (Jodi Rudoren, 2012) Since then, the Government of Qatar has kept sending money to Hamas. In July 2016, Qatar announced a $ 30 million payment to the Gaza workers employed by Hamas.
